    how to avoid physical confrontation.

    Encourage & Empower

Learn a self-defence system that was established in the 1940s.

    Special Training for

Women and Teens (12-17), who may be finding themselves on the wrong side of society.

    What is it all about?

Brisbane Self Defence Academy has been delivering quality, state of the art self defence training to various groups and individuals for over ten years.

Originally based on Brisbane’s Northside and training under the name Krav Maga North Brisbane, we developed packages and courses to cater for a growing need in the community. Having worked with organisations such as Life without Barriers, women’s groups, Fit Mind and Bodies (as part of Kellie Waters treatment for abused and emotionally distraught women), we are well skilled in dealing with all walks of life and emotionally challenged individuals.

Although we deliver training to all facets of the community we have a special interest in assisting women to empower themselves through our training as well as dealing with teens (12-17), who may be finding themselves on the wrong side of society but can change their lives through our programs and training. We all have experience in both these areas and enjoy the unique challenge these groups deliver.

    The Mission

To train women on how to avoid physical confrontation by learning from a place of real world scenario’s and imparting the belief that you have “permission to protect yourself”.

    The Vision

Assisting women to empower themselves through our training, as well as dealing with teens (12-17), who may be finding themselves on the wrong side of society, but can change their lives through our programs and training.

    What we do

Encouraging students to avoid physical confrontation. If this is impossible or unsafe, it promotes finishing a confrontation as quickly and as safely as possible.

Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body, and training is not limited to techniques that avoid injury to the opponent. Students learn to defend against all variety of attacks and are taught to counter in the quickest and most efficient way.

    Situational Awareness

Training also covers the study and development of situational awareness to develop an understanding of one’s surroundings, learning to understand the psychology of a street confrontation, and identifying potential threats before an attack occurs.

It also cover ways to deal with physical and verbal methods to avoid violence whenever possible. Teaching mental toughness, using controlled scenarios to strengthen mental fortitude in order for students to control the impulse and not do something rash, but instead attack only when necessary and as a last resort.
